Our journey to sustainable holidays.
Kattegat Strand Camping is beautifully situated in one of Denmark’s most valuable natural areas – right in the Natura 2000 site, which spans both land and marine nature. With the Kattegat Sea as our backyard and Lille Vildmose as our closest neighbor, we are surrounded by unique and diverse wildlife that requires our attention and protection.
As part of the Natura 2000 area, we have an extra responsibility to preserve the many species and natural habitats found here. We aim to contribute to a more sustainable future, and therefore, we actively take responsibility for our climate impact. We hope that you, as a guest, will join us in supporting our sustainable initiatives so that together we can protect the nature we love.
Our Sustainability Journey
At Kattegat Strand Camping, we are on a sustainability journey that we are very proud of – but we’ve only just begun. Our goal is to get even better, and we are continuously working to develop new initiatives and set new sustainability goals every day. We know there is much more to be done, and we are determined to make a difference – both for nature and for future generations.
In the first phase of our journey, we have already achieved some significant results. We have installed 100 kW of solar panels, which now contribute nearly 30% of our total energy consumption. Additionally, all of our purchased electricity comes from renewable energy sources, allowing us to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the green transition.
But we won’t stop here! Many more initiatives are on the way, and we are determined to continue developing and improving our sustainable practices. We’re excited to have you with us on this journey!
Your Small Steps – A Big Difference
Together, we can make a big difference. Here are some simple yet effective actions you can take during your stay to help protect nature and reduce your carbon footprint:
-
Save water: Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or washing dishes, and help us spot any leaks on the campsite so we can fix them quickly.
- Recycling: Use our waste stations properly and sort your waste, so we can recycle materials and reduce the amount of waste.
- Reusable bottles and bags: We encourage you to bring reusable bottles, bags, and containers during your stay. For example, bring your own bread basket or bag when buying morning bread at our kiosk. This helps reduce plastic usage and promotes a more sustainable lifestyle.
- Buy local and sustainable products: When you shop, support local producers and choose sustainable goods. This reduces the carbon footprint of transportation and adds value to the local community.
Our Commitment to Nature Conservation
We are deeply committed to protecting the unique environment we are part of, and as a part of the Natura 2000 area, we have a responsibility to preserve the important habitats and rich birdlife that make the area particularly valuable. We are continuously working to create a sustainable camping environment where both nature and our guests can thrive.
