Hi there! We are Birthe and Jørn
– The camp owners of Kattegat Strand Camping
Camping life has always had a special place in our hearts, and it still does to this day. We, Jørn and Birthe, have been happy campers for many years – even after we had our 4 children. We’ve always dreamed of creating our own campsite, and in the year 2000, that dream came true when we bought Kattegat Strand Camping. It’s a decision we’ve never regretted!
The turning point that changed our lives
Before we purchased the campsite, Jørn worked as a master carpenter and Birthe as a hairdresser for many years. But our passion for camping and our desire to create something together that would allow us to do what we love drove us to take the leap.
In February 2000, Birthe saw the sales ad for Toft Camping (which we later renamed Kattegat Strand Camping), and that was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. Just seven weeks later, we packed up the whole family and moved to Northern Jutland. On April 1, 2000, we took over the campsite, and since then, we’ve worked hard to renovate and develop the place into what it is today.
Camping life gives us an extra boost.
When the sun starts shining and the campsite opens, we automatically shift into a higher gear. As campground managers, we often work 15-18 hours a day during the peak season – but it’s exactly what we love. We’re filled with energy and motivation when we see our guests enjoying themselves and having fun on the campsite.
It’s always busy when the campsite is open, and that gives us a huge boost. We love being close to our guests and ensuring everyone feels welcome. Every single day is about making your experience as great as possible.

When our guests are happy, we are happy! We take pride in providing the best service with a smile and a positive attitude. It makes us incredibly happy to see so many seasonal guests, couples, and families with children returning to us year after year. We do everything we can to ensure that the children have fun with the activities we offer and that our facilities are always in top condition – both in terms of cleanliness and comfort.
